Recent human studies indicate that the subjective effects of orally administered racemic MDMA can be altered by pretreatments with the the 5-HT2A antagonist ketanserin (Liechti et al., 2000b.)
However, the relationship of these subjective effects to the reinforcing effects of MDMA is unknown.
Antagonism of post-synaptic 5-HT receptors may be expected to produce a greater effect on self administration of (-)-MDMA.
